Grøtsund Industrial Park

Tromsø is the largest logistics hub in northern Norway, strategically situated 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. The city of knowledge and innovation will play an important role in the development of the northern region.

The city is home to the world’s northernmost university, the University of Tromsø. Tromsø also hosts a range of independent research organisations. Arctic resources and environmental threats are topics of great public concern, and ones in which the university and the research organisations takes a particular interest.

Many international companies active in the fields of fish export, information technology, space technology and biotechnology as well as the oil and gas industry are also located in Tromsø.

Tromsø is a good starting point for cooperation between industry, research and educational communities, and the public to enhance innovation and competitiveness in the northern region.

Attractive infrastructure and adequate land resources are essential for large industrial players seeking to establish themselves in the northern region.

To meet industry needs we are currently developing a modern port and industrial park at Grøtsund, only 14 kilometres from the city centre and 18 kilometres from northern  Norway’ main airport.

This project is an important part of the Norwegian government’s High North strategy to establish sustainable petroleum activities in the Arctic.
